Friends of the Arboretum
The all-volunteer group, Friends of the Arboretum, was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1997. This group oversees the growth and development of the Clark-Landsbaum Deming Park Holly Arboretum. Maintaining a holly arboretum which has more than 400 trees requires a strong commitment by the members. Several work days are scheduled throughout the year to perform all of the necessary maintenance. Weeding, pruning, and planting new trees are chores done each workday.
Public education is another project performed by members of FOTA. Each year Friends of the Arboretum participates in the Arbor Day Celebration, the Herb Faire, and Vigo County Library Learning Day, providing literature about the benefits of hollies. Members also speak to organizations and conduct tours of the arboretum.
Each spring Friends of the Arboretum conducts a Spring Fundraising Campaign to raise the funds necessary to maintain the Clark-Landsbaum Deming Park Holly Arboretum.
Each fall Friends of the Arboretum sponsors an "Appreciation cook-out" for the employees of the Terre Haute Parks Department.
